I used to think small bathroom updates were the easiest type of renovation. Change a few tiles, swap fixtures, paint the walls, and you’re done. That was my mindset before seeing a bathroom update in Atlanta, Georgia.
The bathroom itself wasn’t large, which made everything more complicated. There was very little space to move around, and every mistake showed immediately.

One issue that came up early was water damage behind the vanity. It wasn’t visible at first, and honestly, no one expected it. Once the vanity was removed, the wall behind it was soft and needed repairs before anything else could continue.
That alone delayed the project by a few days.
The homeowners wanted to keep costs reasonable, so instead of moving plumbing lines, they worked with the existing layout. This saved money but required careful planning when choosing new fixtures and storage.
In the end, the bathroom felt completely different. Brighter, cleaner, and more practical for everyday use. The final cost landed around $6,200, mostly due to unexpected repairs.

What I took away from this project is simple: even small bathrooms can hide big problems. If you’re renovating in Atlanta, it’s smart to expect surprises and leave some room in the budget.
If you’ve done a bathroom renovation recently, I’d be interested to hear how it went for you.
