Like many people, I worked from the kitchen table for months. It looked fine… until life happened around me dishes clattering, kids asking questions, constant distractions. Productivity took a hit.
We eventually converted a small spare room into a real office.
We added built-in shelves, a solid desk, and good task lighting. The walls got a calm, muted color, and the door finally became something I could close when I needed focus.
The difference was more than visual. My workday felt structured again. At the end of the day, I could walk out, shut the door, and mentally clock off something the kitchen table never allowed.
It wasn’t about creating a fancy workspace.
It was about boundaries and sanity.
