In a rental bathroom in Tucson, Arizona, the space felt tired but a full renovation was not an option. Instead of ripping anything out, I focused on one small upgrade that changed everything: the mirror.
The old mirror was glued on, scratched, and poorly placed. I carefully removed it, patched the wall, and installed a framed mirror with built in lighting.
How it was done:
First, I scored the edges of the old mirror and removed it slowly to avoid damaging the wall. After patching and sanding, I marked the new mirror height based on eye level rather than the old mounting points. The new mirror was secured using wall anchors and a level to keep everything straight.
The result was a bathroom that felt brighter, cleaner, and more intentional without touching the tile or plumbing.
DIY renovations work best when they focus on visibility and daily use. One thoughtful change can reset the entire room.
