A Simple DIY Wall Upgrade That Actually Worked (Austin)

Not every DIY project turns out great, but this one in Austin, Texas was surprisingly worth the effort.

The wall itself was plain and didn’t add much to the room. Instead of repainting the whole space, the idea was to create a small accent feature that wouldn’t cost much or take weeks to finish.

The process was straightforward. The wall was cleaned, measured carefully, and a simple panel-style design was added using basic materials. Nothing fancy, just patience and accurate spacing.

One thing that helped was doing all the measuring twice before installing anything. That saved a lot of frustration later.

Once painted, the wall looked completely different. It added depth to the room without overwhelming the space. Total cost stayed around $120, mostly materials and paint.
