This living room refresh was done in a Denver, Colorado apartment. The room was fine but felt a little cold and uninviting. I didn’t want to spend much, so I focused on low-cost changes.
Before photo – plain walls, old furniture.
I started by moving furniture and adding a few inexpensive decor pieces. I also painted one accent wall. I misjudged the wall size at first, so I ran out of paint halfway and had to buy more. That added an extra trip to the store I didn’t expect.
During renovation – painting accent wall and arranging furniture.
Adding a rug and repositioning the lamps made the space feel cozier. One lamp cord was too short for the new placement, so I had to get an extension — small detail, but it threw off the plan for a few minutes.
After photo – brighter, warmer living room.
The final result looks far better than before, and the cost stayed under $150. It’s not perfect — one corner still feels a bit bare — but the room feels more inviting for daily use.
Honest Note
Small, inexpensive changes can make a big difference, but expect a few hiccups along the way.
