December is just around the corner and for the past few weeks, I have been saving lots of inspirational Christmas decor ideas that I have seen created by the experts on social media. Bows are the biggest Christmas decor trend for 2023 (four out of the six decor ideas I list below contain bows in some way!) but all of the images featured in this post instantly stopped me from scrolling on my phone. If you are currently brainstorming how to dress your home for the festive season ahead, you can’t go wrong with these creative Christmas decor schemes.
Candle Sequence by Matilda Goad
I love this image featuring Matilda Goad’s range of ribbed candles and candle holders lined up in a sequence of blue and yellow. Usually, you see festive floral garlands draped over a mantel, but here Matilda drops hers down so that the area is free for the dinner candles to be clearly (and safely) displayed. What works really well is the double height aspect, so if you replicate this idea, make sure that you invest in both taller and shorter candle holders. I also really like the brass candle pins pressed into the wax - an easy way to embrace the bow trend without using ribbon!
The 18th Home On The Street Wrapped Gallery Wall
Abbigail who runs the Instagram account @The18thHomeontheStreet decided her hallway was too narrow to host a floral stair garland, so wrapped her gallery wall art instead with ribbon to replicate gifts. I thought this was such a clever, effective idea to add a touch of Christmas decor to a small space (I find that hallways can be tricky to dress for Christmas if they aren’t grand entranceways).
Sean Symington’s fun but traditional Christmas stair garland
This image from Somerset-based interior designer Sean Symington is one of the best Christmas decor shots that I’ve enjoyed this year so far. I just love how his traditional stair garland is also modern and fun with the inclusion of clementines, pomegranates and bird ornaments! Sean purposefully stayed away from any baubles and (controversially) skipped bows in favour of draping velvet ribbon. It is just absolutely wonderful (as is his pink cabbage plate wall rack)
