Contractor ordered wrong window grille style—what are my options?

Project halted due to incorrectly ordered windows that don’t have the necessary muntins to harmonize with the house’s aesthetic. The contract specifies only the make and model. What are my options for resolution (modifying the order, returning the items, exploring legal recourse)?

Since the contract only lists make and model, options are limited see if the maker can add muntins, try to swap or return, or use aftermarket kits. Legal action’s a long shot without proof they were promised.

Since the contract only lists the make and model, options include checking if muntins can be retrofitted, negotiating with the supplier or contractor for replacements, or pursuing legal action if design intent was clearly communicated elsewhere. Returns may be difficult for custom orders.

Since your contract states the make and model, but doesn’t mention muntins, it’s a tricky situation. Even if you talked about muntins, it’s hard to get free replacements if they weren’t in the contract.

You might want to negotiate with the supplier to change the order, maybe by paying a bit more or covering restocking fees. If muntins are super important for your home’s look, you could add them later, but they might not look exactly like they were factory-made.

Going to court is an option if you have proof that muntins were promised, but it could take a while and cost you money. The best bet is to try and work things out with the vendor before they start installing anything.

If your contractor ordered the wrong window grille style, the filling options might be necessary;

  1. Request a replacement: Ask your contractor to replace the incorrect grilles with the correct style. This might involve additional costs and a delay in the project timeline.
  2. Modify the existing grilles: Depending on the extent of the error, it might be possible to modify the existing grilles to match the desired style. This could involve adjusting the design, spacing, or material.
  3. Accept the incorrect grilles: If the incorrect grilles are not significantly different from what you wanted, you might decide to accept them and move forward with the project.

Well you could negotiate with the seller and request for a change for the order
