Early in the renovation, I was tempted by white couches, glass tables, and delicate fabrics. Then I remembered: we have kids, a dog, and friends who don’t take shoes off.
So we designed for real life. Washable covers, sturdy fabrics, rounded edges, and floors that hide scratches. The house still looks stylish just not fragile.
And something unexpected happened: we relax more. No one panics over spills. The house works for us instead of controlling us.
Conclusion: Beautiful design is great but livable design is better.
