This DIY entryway bench project was done in a home in Raleigh, North Carolina. The entryway needed seating and storage, and a simple wooden bench seemed like a good weekend project.
Before photo – cluttered entryway.
Cutting the wood went fine, but assembling everything took longer than expected. One piece was slightly off, which made the bench wobble at first. I had to loosen the screws and adjust the frame to get it stable.
During renovation – bench assembly.
Once assembled, I sanded and stained the bench. The stain dried darker than I expected, and one corner absorbed more color than the rest. I considered sanding it down again but decided to leave it.
After photo – finished entryway bench.
The bench isn’t perfect, but it’s solid and useful. For a Raleigh home, it added function without needing a full entryway renovation.
Honest Thought
DIY projects always take longer than the plan on paper.
