They’ll spot floors that aren’t sloped right, like flat areas or slopes going the wrong way. Also, they’ll notice if the waterproofing isn’t connected to the drain or if seams aren’t sealed well. Messed-up corners and open holes are obvious problems.

Inspectors most often flag insufficient slope toward the drain, usually less than 1–2 percent, and laps or gaps in the waterproofing membrane, especially at the drain flange or corners. Improper bonding to the drain channel and lack of continuous membrane under tiles are also frequent issues.
