Hired a general handyman to install outside window shutters to my house from the crap site, HomeAdvisor (be careful, they’re crooks!) Mistake number one. This guy shows up, charges me for gas money, took 5 hours to get one set of shutters up. Tells me to pay the quote for completing the job (he still had four sets to put up mind you). He explained that it’s just easier if I pay up front and he’ll come back and finish the job. Mistake Number two. I know better than paying for something that’s not complete but he was in my house and put me in an uncomfortable position, so I agreed to pay for the full amount with his promise that’s he’s complete the rest of the job. Well, he comes back a week later, installs one more set up shutters but instead of installing them onto the houses’ stucco, he just screwed them into the wood part of the window frame. I told to leave and tried contacting HomeAdvisors. They were rude and told me it was my fault for paying him. The rep from HomeAdvisor actually told me ‘well, you learned a lesson about paying someone before they finish a job.’ I filed complaints with the better business beau and emailed the CEO. He said he’d refund my money but never did. I hate that company.
