How a $30 Fix Stopped My Squeaky Door

For weeks, the bedroom door in my house had been driving me crazy. Every time it opened or closed, it let out a high-pitched squeak that echoed through the hallway. At first, I considered replacing the hinges entirely, thinking it would be a bigger project. But after a quick search online, I realized the solution was much simpler and cheaper.

I picked up a small can of lubricant and a screwdriver for about $30 total. After removing the hinges, I applied the lubricant to the pins and gave everything a good wipe-down before putting it back. It was quick, messy, and satisfying work.

The result? Silence. No more squeaks, no more interruptions, and a door that moved smoothly like new. A minor fix had completely changed the experience of a part of my home I’d been ignoring for months.

It reminded me that not every home improvement needs to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes, small investments of time and a little know-how can make your home feel newer and more comfortable all for the price of a few dollars and a bit of elbow grease.
