My old fireplace looked dated with red brick and brass trim. Instead of tearing it out I tried a budget friendly update.
I cleaned the brick and painted it with heat resistant white paint for a modern look. I replaced the brass screen with a simple black frame. Above the fireplace I added a reclaimed wood mantel which gave it character.
The whole project cost under two hundred dollars but completely changed the living room. Now the fireplace looks like a feature instead of an eyesore.
Final thought: Sometimes paint and small changes make the biggest difference. How would you update a fireplace?
