How to install a kitchen sink

How to Install a Sink in the Kitchen

  1. Cut off the power and water. Turn off the faucet’s hot and cold water valves. If the dishwasher or waste disposal is connected, turn it off. —

2. Take Out the Old Sink A bucket should be placed beneath the drain pipes. Disconnect the faucet’s supply lines. The drain pipe, or P-trap, should be loosened and removed. Using a utility knife, cut through the old sealant and remove the old sink. –

3 Get the countertop ready. Trace the sink template on the countertop if you’re installing a sink of a different size. Using a jigsaw, carefully cut while holding the cutout in place.

4.Verify that the sink is securely inserted into the hole. Before putting the faucet and accessories in the sink, install them. It’s far simpler to attach the soap dispenser, faucet, or sprayer to the sink outside than it is within the cabinet. Seal around fittings with silicone or plumber’s putty. —

5. Install the Sink Wrap the countertop aperture in a bead of silicone sealant. Place the sink in place by lowering it. Remove extra sealant with a wipe. Use the sink clips to secure (tighten evenly).

6. Reattach the plumbing Use plumber’s tape to secure the water supply lines to the faucet’s threads. Reattach the drain assembly, including the dishwasher hose, P-trap, and strainer if necessary. Reattach your garbage disposal if you have one. —

7. Examine every item Restart the water. Look for leaks near the faucet and beneath the sink. If necessary, tighten fittings.
