This kitchen update happened in a rental unit in Austin, Texas. I wanted to improve the backsplash without committing to a full renovation, so peel-and-stick tile seemed like a good option.
Before photo – old backsplash.
Installing the tiles was easier than expected at first, but lining them up perfectly took patience. I messed up the spacing on one row and had to peel it off and redo it. Luckily, the adhesive still held.
During renovation – tiles being applied.
Once everything was in place, the backsplash looked surprisingly good. However, one corner near the stove didn’t stick as firmly, so I had to press it down a few times over the next day.
After photo – finished backsplash.
Overall, the peel-and-stick tiles worked well for a temporary upgrade. They’re not perfect, and I wouldn’t use them in a high-moisture area, but for a quick kitchen refresh in Austin, they did the job.
Honest Verdict
Good for rentals, but careful alignment matters more than the ads suggest.
