Splash Landings Project Delay / IDPH Concerns (Illinois)

Okay, So, Splash Landings’ $7.2 million makeover is gonna have to wait a bit. It turns out the Illinois Department of Public Health has some questions about the whole thing.

The problem? Well, about $2.8 million of that money was supposed to come from a state grant. But now, that money is on hold because the health folks want to make sure everything’s up to snuff, and safe before they go any further.

Because the health department has raised some red flags, things are at a standstill for now. No one wants to move forward until the health and safety kinks are worked out and the place meets all the state’s rules. It’s a bummer, since everyone was looking forward to the upgrades. What kind of upgrades were planned? Well, they are supposed to be building a brand-new splash pad that’s going to be even bigger and have way cooler water features. I heard that they are talking about a lazy river. What would be a better way to float around with your friends, right?

They also were supposed to fix some of the older equipment. I heard some rumors they were supposed to paint everything and give the place a new, fresh look. The idea was to give splash landing a complete refresh, so that kids and families can enjoy it for many years to come.

I know that these things can be a real headache, they also take time. You have got architects, contractors, and all sorts of different people involved. Making sure everyone agrees on the best way forward takes some time.

What is important is that when Splash Landings eventually opens its doors after the renovation, we all want to be sure it is safe and sound. The health department is simply doing its job, making sure the place will be amazing and meets all the necessary rules.

When does it open? No one knows . They need to address these concerns properly first. As soon as they have, though, I am sure we will be hearing more about it! So, in short. The planned upgrades are still on the cards! It is just gonna take a little longer than everyone thought to make sure everything is 100% safe before they turn the construction workers loose.
