The DIY Island That Started as a Secondhand Table

I found an old, sturdy table online and saw something in it: a future kitchen island.

After sanding, painting, and adding locking casters, it transformed into a functional prep surface. A butcher-block top sealed the deal. It rolls when we need space, stays put when we don’t, and adds storage underneath.

Guests assume it came from a nice furniture store. Truth is, it was a weekend of work and a little creativity.

Conclusion:

Repurposing furniture can stretch a renovation budget and give the kitchen personality store-bought pieces rarely have.
