Our driveway was always an afterthought. It cracked, collected puddles, and made every guest step around muddy spots. I figured it was just “how it was” until a neighbor resurfaced theirs and it completely changed the front of their house.
That pushed us to take a closer look.
We didn’t jump straight into replacing it. Instead, we walked the length of it with a contractor who pointed out things I never noticed: poor drainage, roots pushing up from underneath, and sections that were actually unsafe in winter.
We chose a simple concrete redesign, nothing fancy. But once it was finished, the place looked cleaner and more put-together. Cars rolled in smoothly. Kids rode their bikes without hitting bumps. Even our front yard seemed more intentional.
The funny part? I thought it was just a cosmetic project. Instead, it made everyday life easier one of those upgrades you only appreciate once it’s there.
