If a contractor gives you one single lump sum price with no breakdown, be careful. Lack of breakdown means lack of transparency — you don’t know the labor cost, material cost, or profit margin. When you later ask questions, you’ll be told, “Everything is inside.”

brand or grade of materials
When costs are broken down, disagreements reduce. When everything is lumped together, it becomes argument versus argument.
