Transformation of a Palm Jumeirah Apartment into a Japandi-Inspired Haven

An older 130 m² apartment on Palm Jumeirah underwent a complete renovation led by Studio Urjowan Interiors, aiming to create a serene, low-maintenance holiday home. The project successfully merged Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian warmth, resulting in a functional, aesthetically pleasing living space.

Design Philosophy

Japandi Style: A harmonious blend of Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian comfort.

Nature-Inspired Palette: Warm oak joinery in chevron patterns for flooring and select walls.

Textured Finishes: Limewashed plaster on walls and ceilings for an earthy, mineral feel.

Elegant Details: Custom media units with honed and fluted marble surfaces.

Spatial Planning & Storage Solutions

Privacy Enhancements: Frosted Rimadesio pivot door separates staff quarters from main living spaces.

Concealed Storage: Integrated within timber elements, maintaining a clutter-free environment.

Zoning: Oak panels define zones, creating a rhythmic flow throughout the apartment.

Functional Improvements

Upgraded Systems: Modernized mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Master Bedroom Enhancements: Bespoke oak-frame headboard upholstered in deep forest green fabric.

Lighting: Porta Romana wall sconce adds ambient warmth and complements the tranquil atmosphere.

Outcome

The renovation transformed the apartment into a Japandi-inspired haven, emphasizing:

Efficient use of space

Privacy and comfort

Elegant, natural materials

A functional, low-maintenance design suitable for a holiday home

This project highlights how thoughtful design, clever storage, and material selection can revitalize an older property while reflecting a modern, sophisticated aesthetic.
