Why I Always Prep My Walls Before Painting

Painting looks easy, but skipping prep work is the fastest way to end up disappointed. I make sure to remove outlet covers, fill nail holes with spackle, and sand the surface smooth. Then I wipe down the walls because dust and grease can ruin the finish. Painter’s tape is my best friend when working around trim. I’ve learned the hard way that primer saves both time and money, especially when going from a dark to a light color. With proper prep, painting goes quickly and the results actually look professional.
