Why Kitchen Layout Matters More Than Expensive Finishes

Many people spend heavily on tiles, countertops, and cabinets, then end up with a kitchen that feels uncomfortable. The truth is, layout beats luxury every time. If the fridge blocks movement or the cooker is too close to the sink, no marble countertop can fix that frustration.

A functional kitchen follows a simple flow:

food storage (fridge, pantry)

preparation area

cooking zone

washing area

When this flow is broken, you’ll constantly walk back and forth, wasting time and energy. Poor layout also causes congestion, especially in homes where more than one person cooks.

Before choosing finishes, mark out where appliances will sit and physically walk through the space. If it feels awkward now, it will feel worse later. A simple, well-planned kitchen will always outperform an expensive but poorly arranged one.
