In Akron, Ohio, a small house flip looked finished and ready to sell. New paint, updated kitchen, clean exterior. Then it failed inspection.
The issue was not cosmetic. Electrical outlets were ungrounded, a load bearing wall had been altered without permits, and plumbing vents were incorrect. None of it showed in photos.
Contractors in the comments explained that rushing to finishes before inspections is a common mistake. Fixing hidden issues after the fact costs more than doing it right the first time.
This is why inspections matter. They catch what looks fine but is actually wrong.
